Dress for Less - Striped Dress & Ankle Strap Heels

Image
I will admit, I do have expensive taste, but that doesn't mean I like the expensive tags that come along with some of the items I lust after.  I've been blessed with the talent and patience to shop around extensively and truly find the best bargains on a lot of the pieces in my closet.  Today's post reflects one of my jackpot outings, where I was able to clean up at a discount store and walk out with some great finds for 75% off the regular price.  Don't sleep on bargain shopping. Today's post is a sassy and amazingly comfortable, short sleeve front slit dress from ivy & blu.  I love this dress because it is stretchy, allowing me to be chic while still giving me flex room to multi-task with the days duties.  This brand can be found at Dillards as well as Amazon, but I did snag this particular dress at the clearance center.  I finished the look with a pair of ankle strap heels, also a super bargain friend from DSW.  Here's a peak at the post of ...

Making Bold Statements - Red Zebra Print Tunic, Leggings & Knee High Boots

Image
There is something about the color red on brown skin tones that just makes a bold statement like no other.  Especially when you get that perfect shade!  It is definitely in my top five must have colors for my wardrobe items. Animal print has truly been heavy in my rotation for the past 30 days.  It is definitely a timeless print that will never go out of style, so if I see something in a good color or style I usually snatch it up.  Particularly, this Michael Kors tunic dress was a three in one score, being that is was a dress, it was red and animal print, I got three of my favorite things in one. This outfit was simple pairing with basic essentials that I always keep on hand, long blazer, knee high boots and my favorite BCBG leggings that I just keep buying year after year.  Certain necessities you can never go wrong with having, as they can be paired with multiple pieces in your wardrobe providing you timeless and effortless style on a regular basis. Feeling Holiday Green - Hunter Green Dress, Black Blazer & Suede Over the Knee Boots

Image
One of my favorite colors during this time of year is hunter green.  As the weather begins to cool and the holiday season rolls in, something about this color puts me in a warm spirit.  I can never find it as often as I like but when I do I am sure to snatch it up as it is a very flattering color on brown skin tones. I found this great dress at the Dillard's clearance center on one of my random shopping days that I was on the hunt for something else.  I was actually looking for another dress in the same color and had no luck, but then this little Kenneth Cole number jumped out at me and I was so excited.  I love the zipper detail in the back, as it adds a nice accent to a simple body flattering dress.  Sometimes it doesn't take much to make a powerful statement and this dress does the trick.  From the color, to the detail, to the fit, I know that I found a classic and timeless piece that will have a place in my closet for awhile. I completed this outfit...

Boots for Days - 1 Pair of Boots for 3 Travel Outfits - Outfit #2 of 3

Image
Today was a denim day.  Crazy thing, I use to wear jeans all the time but it seems that these days its more like once every month or even every few months.  None the less, I was sure to pack these comfy Nico super skinny jeans by Hudson.  They are very stretchy and comfortable and go great with the boots of choice. Since this particular trip was family directed, for once, I was able to pack a little more casual then normal, which allowed me to pull out some old favorites that don't get as much attention as my dresses and other less casual items in my closet.   The OOTD is a pair of skinny jeans, a long black tank, along with an asymmetrical cardigan.  Here's a peek at how I pulled this outfit together.

Boots for Days - 1 Pair of Boots for 3 Travel Outfits - Outfit #1 of 3

While traveling for a few days, I didn't want to pack a lot of stuff, I decided to build my outfit choices around one pair of boots that could be worn with everything.   This saves me from having bring a lot of unnecessary stuff!  While I love to accessorize and wear a different amazing shoe as often as possible, I try to make traveling as painless as possible.  I figure if I can make one or two pair of shoes work for a fews day I am definitely winning! I chose my cognac brown boots to bring along for my few days of travel.  They are a great neutral that goes great with jeans, as well as paired with blues, blacks and grays to add a rich pop of color to complete a great looking outfit combination. Today's OOTD consists of a gray harem jumper, along with a long cardigan, infinity scarf and of course the featured boots of the next few days.  Here's a peek at what I wore.

Another Dress Day in the City - Shift Dress and Knee High Boots

Image
As the weather changes and we nestle into fall, with winter approaching soon, one of my favorite combos this time of year is a great shift dress and knee high boots.  There's something about it that gives this fun, sassy yet cozy feeling for the season.  Its also a quick and easy go to outfit that can be appropriate for multiple events throughout your day.  Now depending on your location you can add to the combo, by pairing some tights or leggings according to your weather conditions.  Fortunately I live in a sunny state so I have the option to still bare legs at this time. My go to brand for a great shift dress is Laundry by Shelli Segal.  I have been a fan of her dresses for many years, as the material is a polyester/spandex blend that hangs just right.  Her dresses are very versatile, comfortable, as well as flattering which is very important when you are looking for great pieces to add to your wardrobe.  They are great to travel in as well, being...

I had to jump up this morning and run a few errands but I still wanted to make myself presentable.  I threw on a cozy over sized sweater, some leggings boots, a hat, and I was out the door.  You want to ensure that when you are building a wardrobe, you have items that allow you effortless style for moments when you don't have much time to get yourself together.  Quick, Simple and Chic.  Happy Sunday!

1st Things 1st – Stat’s are Helpful

I don’t know about you, I always prefer to try my clothing on whenever possible! However, I usually seem to find my best items online, and it can be very challenging because I never know how they are going to fit me compared to the “fit model” that is used.   I’ve always said it would be quite helpful to know their “stats”, as it would truly save me the process of having to return items if I just had a few more details before purchasing.   That being said, I decided that I would share “my stats” with you, so that as you browse through and try to determine how some of the items I wear would fit or look on you, you have a bases of go off of.    Black Anne Klein Sweater Dress Size L Black Dolce Vita Flat Knee High Boots Size 10 Measurements - 34 – 28 – 38 Height – 5’9” Weight – 170 Inseam – 34 Pants Size – 10 or 31 Dress Size – 10 -12 Shirt size – M to L Shoe Size - 9.5 to 10 One thing to re...
