Mellow Marvelous Monday's - Denim, Blazer Sleeveless Top & Accessories

Image
I don't wear denim often, but when I do I like to dress it up.  Today I was feeling a little mellow marvelous and didn't feel like getting as sassy as I normally do, so I pulled out some fun jewelry and paired it with some jeans and gladiator style sleeveless top and some fun heels.  This outfit is polished enough to get me through the business I need to take care of without having to pull out all my extra outfit jazz.  Here's a peek at my OOTD.  Thanks for reading, have a great day!

Red Hot Casual - Dress & Leggings

Image
I don't feel that casual can't be cute and well put together.  Just because its a dress down day doesn't mean you can't make it spicy in the process.  This outfit consists of a very special style dress by Michael Michael Kors collection that I happen to own in a few different colors.  I love this dress because its classic, comfortable, easy to throw on and I can wear it by itself or add a pair of leggings to it to alter the look and feel of it.  On this day, I chose to add a pair of charcoal leggings to my red blaze chain tie dress, bottomed off with some gladiator sandals.  Here's a peak at my OOTD.

Simple Color Combo's - Blue & Fuchsia

Today's OOTD is just a simple outfit that I truly threw on.  I am have gotten to a point where I really don't think to hard about the outfits, I just put them on and see what works.  I may have to alter a few pieces here and there if something doesn't look right, but that is the joy of being confident and comfortable enough with my choices to be willing to experiment with my outfits without fear.  Sometimes things work sometimes they don't but I am always willing to at least try it out.  Don't be afraid to play in your own closet, as you will be surprised what you can come up with.  I can understand some may need a push to get started, but once you are guided in the right direction, have fun learn to be creative and express yourself in a way that only you can!  Here's a peek at what I put together.

BSM Travel Diaries - Washington D.C. Days

Image
Hello my dear BSM readers, my apologies for the lack of post for the past week, as I was out of town working in Washington, DC so time was limited for anything other than work and the slight bit of sleep I barely squeezed in.  Of course I would love to recap the great city delights that I was able to experience while in one of my favorite cities ever.  They don't call it "Chocolate City" for nothing!  As I mentioned in a previous post it is great to see successful Black folks doing their thing in such a a powerful city! It is equally great to see students striving for greatness at the well known HBCU campus of Howard University.  While I did not personally attend, it has always been a favorite of mine since I was a little girl, and I have known a lot of friends that have proudly graduated from there as well. In addition to visiting the Howard Campus, I also had an interesting visit to RNC Headquarters, a visit to the White House for a briefing on "My Brother's

So I am all about dresses when I travel as they are easy to pack and accessorize.  Whether a necklace, belt, or even a blazer you can completely build a simple to elegant professional look around a simple dress.  On this particular day, we had a few stops to make with our convention group, one which included a luncheon on the famous HBCU campus of Howard University.  It was a special luncheon that highlights amazing newspaper publishers that have since passed but left a legacy with their hard work and dedication of publishing a Black newspaper.  So of course I wanted to bring my a game for this wonderful day of tributes. I chose a simple black belted sheath dress, paired with a jazzed up pearl necklace, patent pumps, and a dressy boyfriend blazer.  Here's a peek at my outfit for the occasion and this beautiful scenery is on the beautiful campus of Howard University from the the balcony of the Hilltop Lounge in the Armour J. Blackburn University Center.   Outfit D

Washington, DC, is definitely one of my favorite city for multiple reasons!  Its gives off a great vibe filled with young, successful and thriving African Americans.  You meet a lot of great folks and can build powerful relationships if you are a mover and shaker.  So this past week I had to work in DC for annual convention and of course I had to bring my polished professional attire.  Day 1 was a busy one where I was doing a lot of moving around, so my outfit reflected how much flexibility I needed to have as I was working.  I was doing everything from sitting behind the scenes on live a TV show to carry boxes and making copies, but of course that didn't cause me to fall short of being well put together.  I chose a simple sheath dress and long cardigan, topped off with some pearls and pointy toe patent leather stilettos.  And yes, I was working all day in my heels!  I can do anything in my heels!  While I didn't have my normal set up, I managed to snap photos to share some out

Maxin out Monday - Denim Jacket & Maxi Dress

Image
There is nothing better than a great maxi dress!  It's a one stop shop; comfy, cute and well put together for just about anything that comes up in a low key kind of day.  I had to jump up and run errands today and handle a few items of business, but without a lot of time to get myself together, what better piece of clothing to pull out the closet than a great dress to prance around in all day.  I have this motto that when I find a great piece, I have to have it in every color;  so of course I bought this dress in black with royal blue along with some wide leg pants that were the same pattern.  All three pieces are a staple in my ready to wear outfits spur of the moment.  Here's a peek at one of my favorite maxi dresses.

Simple n Sassy Saturday's - Skinny Jeans, Sweater & Heels

Image
Happy weekend everyone.  Today was a lazy Saturday for me.  Had a breakfast meeting with a fellow entrepreneur and then a low-key rest of the day so I decided to keep the OOTD sweet and simple.  There's something easy about throwing on a sweater and some skinny jeans. Top it off with some heels and a cute accessory, you make a statement that is simple yet put together.  Here's a peek at what I wore.

Showing Some Skin - Sweater Dress & Boots

Image
There's nothing wrong with showing a little skin in a tasteful way.  I truly love the off the shoulder look, especially when you have shoulders worth showing off.  For all my broad shoulder mavenettes, embrace your shape, this for you.   Sometimes you want to camouflage the appearance of broad shoulders, and what better way to do so, than wearing something that makes you feel sexy in the process.  I took this drape front sweater dress and pulled it off to one side and paired it with some knee high boots.  To give it another dimension, I also threw on a hooded sweater vest.  The best part about this outfit is that the sweater and the dress together was under $30 at the Dillard's Clearance Center.  I swear that place is a best kept secret.  If you can get there, I promise you won't be disappointed.  Check online to see if there is a city near you that has one, and if not, it is definitely worth a trip out of town to visit one!  Here's a peek at what I wore.

Urban Chic - Blazer, T-shirt, Utility Pants & Heels

Image
Sorry I have been M.I.A for a few days but I had a project on my hands that kept me busy.  But I am back in BSM mode so it's business as usual.  I actually missed blogging as it truly soothes me to post every day. I love utility pants and I especially love to wear them with heels to give them a less casual look.  They are comfy, versatile, and depending on what you pair them with you can give yourself and "Urban Chic" look that is sassy and sexy.  My pairing choices for this OOTD consists of a blazer, Soul Sistah T-shirt, and some sexy red shoes to pick up the colors in my top.  Here's a peek at what I wore.

Jean in the House - Denim Shirt & Pencil Skirt

Image
I love jean shirts, they have a versatility about them that makes them a must have.  I have a few different styles in my closet and love to pair them with leggings, pants & skirts; just depends on the day and the mood that I am in.  This particular jean shirt I love because of the acid wash, it takes on a look of its own that definitely makes a statement!  I decided to take it to another level by adding the vibrant color of red to really make the assemble pop.  It turned, what could have been,  a casual day,  into a sexy business casual look for the day.  The secret in getting dress is all in how you pair and style items.  You have the ability to turn anything into a look that you so desire, if you just get a little creative and take chances.  Like I have said before, don't be afraid to to experiment with your closet, you'll be surprised at what you can come up with.  Here's a peek at my OOTD.

Lady of the Wild - Black & White Zebra Print Dress

Image
Zebra prints are definitely one of my favorites of the animal print family when it comes to fashion.  I think the black and white theme of the print always gives off a sexy, flirty appeal.  I found this great dress from TopShop at Nordstrom on sale. This particular dress is comfy and chic and it can be worn for many different occasions, so it was definitely a must have. I completed it off with some color to make it pop, my patent leather pumps were just the right touch.  Here's a peek at my OOTD.

Color me Barbie Pink - Cropped Jacket, Leggings & a Dress

Image
There is something about pink and flowing hair that has Barbie written all over it.  I guess you could say this out fit inspired my inner Mattel diva to come out and say cheese for the camera.  Bright pink is always a flattering color on brown skin tones, so when I saw this dress and especially for the price of only $15 it was completely a no brainer.  It was an H&M special that I caught on the sale rack awhile back but I get my money's worth, and then some, out of it.  It is a great dress that can be worn on multiple occasions and with multiple pairings.  On this day, I decided to go black and pink with it and add a little skinny belt with gold detail on it.  On other occasions I have paired it white pants or even worn it by itself with a cute blazer and some flirty heels.  Its definitely a piece that I would consider timeless as the color and the style will be great for seasons to come.  Here's a peek at how I wore this outfit.
