Wrap me up in Print Dresses - Multi-color Wrap Dress

Image
Another great dress for the achieves.  This particular banana republic wrap dress I love because its flattering in all the right places, not to mention the color combo is fun and works well for my skin tone. Wrap dresses are great because they follow curvy body types quite generously, as well as showing off your waistline in a very generous way.  If you are on the hunt for a great dress be sure to try out a few wrap dresses on your next shopping adventure!  You won't be disappointed.  Here's a peek at my wrap dress and how I rocked it.

Dress Me Quick & Easy - Matte Jersey Dress & Boots

Image
A dress is such a quick and easy wardrobe item.  It makes getting dressed a no brainer on those days that you want to be cute but don't have the time or desire to piece together multiple items.  I especially appreciate when dresses have a little embellishment or texture on them, because it enhances its value, keeping you from having to add to many accessories when time isn't on your side any given day.  My favorite material in a dress is that slinky matte jersey material as it allows for all day comfort as you move through your day.  This particular Michael Kors dress is one of my favorites, as it travels well, its gives a simple chic look and can also allow for a dressed down look if paired with sandals or flats.  Here's a peek at my OOTD.

Simple Outlines - Blazer and Skinny Jeans

Image
There is nothing like simplicity.  This outfit truly speaks for itself, just simple lines that make their own statement.  I paired a classic off white blazer that is trimmed in black piping with some dark gray jeans trimmed with a black piping and threw on a simple black high low tank blouse.  Here's a peek at how I rocked this combo.  Thanks for reading!

Sunshine on a Cloudy Day - Colored Denim and Stripes

Image
Sometimes you just need to brighten your days with some vibrant color.  These yellow skinny jeans were just what the doctor ordered for a sunless day in the city.  Colored denim jeans are a staple in my wardrobe, as I can do so much with them and they can also change the look of an outfit depending on what you pair them with.  I am absolutely fond of these Marciano denim jeans because the denim is so forgiving and soft, making these jeans such a comfortable joy to wear.  Let's not leave out the fact that you turn a few heads or two with the flattering fit that they provide.  While these are last season jeans, there are plenty of other brands that are out there that offer great colors and fits in colored denim.  I decided to have a casual day and paired my jeans with striped boat neck top and denim vest.  Here's a peak at my OOTD.

Simple Elegance - Long Black & White Gown

Image
I love a reason to get elegant.  You should always have a few gowns and cocktail dresses in your closet because you never know when an invite to a cocktail, formal or semi-formal event might arrive.  I try to keep a couple all black or black and white dresses on hand as I often get the honor and privilege to attend or work at great events where I get to play dress up, and I couldn't wait to wear my long Ralph Lauren gown.  This dress is sleek, flattering and very comfy; definitely great qualities in a dress when you have to run around all night long.  Here's a peek at the dress I wore to work Annual Chamber Dinner.

Chucks in the House - Pre-Event Work Attire

Image
Event times is always crazy for me, so today in preparation as I am running around, I have to be ready to get dirty, but I still want to be fashionable in the process.  I love that Chuck Taylor's come in some many amazing colors, and while on a work trip in Nashville, Tennessee, I was shopping at the TJMaxx and found this teal green pair that I absolutely love!!  Here's a peak at my simple event prep attire.

Green Between the Lines - Black & Green Stripes

Image
Quick outfit post for the day.  This outfit was based around one of my favorite shirts in my closet.  I love this shirt for so many reasons; its comfy, it can be worn dressed up or down and I absolutely adore the cutout shoulders on it.  Best part is I copped it on sale, and with the style and color combo, I didn't think twice about it!  The color combo of this kelly green and black makes such a statement, it stands out quite nicely on brown skin tones and is definitely a BSM favorite!  Here's a peak at the OOTD.

Dress me Down - Tank Dress & Leggings

Image
This week is going to be a long one, I have my hands in multiple projects, but here is a quick post of my OOTD.  I paired an asymmetrical hem dress with some leggings, open toe ankle booties and topped it off with a long cardigan. Simple, quick, sassy, comfy & effortless outfit.  Here's a peek at what I wore.

Fun and Flirty - Mini Skirt & Black and White Stripes

Image
Sunday Fun Day.  Hope everyone had a great weekend.  Today's post was all about fun and flirty.  I love short flared skirts. I think they can be very versatile and also flattering at the same time.  They definitely are great for taller woman, such as myself, because they allow for you to show off your legs in a somewhat conservative sexy way without having a short skirt fitted skirt that you have to tug on all day long.  I paired this skirt with a striped sleeveless top, a simple cardigan and some knee high boots. Oh and lets not forget the statement necklace that truly made a difference if you notice the very first photo compared with the rest.  It's amazing the difference and accessory can make.  Here's a peek at what I wore.

Shades of Gray - "SS" Sweater Dress & Scarf

Image
I absolutely love simple dresses that you can add an accessory to and make it stand out.  This dress is not only cozy and comfortable, but also very professional and flattering.  One of those "sophisticated sexy" sweater dresses.  Hugs in all the right places, but still just the right amount of conservative for the work day.  Paired it with my favorite dark natural heels, a scarf and I was ready to make business happen for the day! I found this great dress in 3 colors on a trip to the BCBG outlet in Maryland, and of course I couldn't pass them up.   It was definitely a great find.  Oh yeah, and if you notice that little black piece sticking out around my neck that is my wireless headset that I just cannot live without!! I love that thing, I will put the link below just incase anyone is one the go like me and needs to be handsfree!  I promise you won't be disappointed! Here's a peak at my OOTD.

BSM Beauty Bits

I love when products surprise me and truly help transform problem areas for me.  I have recently tried some new things and gone back to some old faithfuls in the last couple months.  Before I gave you the low down on them, I wanted try them out for awhile first so that I could see the true affects they gave me.  I have to say I am so glad that I have reacquainted myself with a couple of these items as well as made an introduction with one for the first time.

In the Wild - Zebra Print in Color

Image
You can't beat a great animal print, especially when it has some great color that makes it pop!  I love this Michael Kors dress, as it very comfortable, in addition to being very versatile.  I can wear it alone with some heels, if I want to go out on the town, or I can tone it down a notch by wearing it with some leggings, as I have done here.  Here's a peak at the outfit that I pulled together to create this look.

One Dress - Two Looks

Image
I love versatility in clothes, as it definitely allows you to get your money's worth!  A tank dress can give you multiple looks that takes you from one extreme to the next, totally changing your look.  I bought this high-low maxi dress from forever 21 a bout a year ago, and the best part it was only $17.  Now that's a steal! Here's a peak at how I took it from a very casual look to a more dressy look that could be appropriate for many occasions.  Its amazing how with a few minor changes you can completely change the appearance of an outfit.  Take a look.

Camouflaging with All Black

Image
Happy Monday Mavens!  Here is an outfit that I wore over the weekend for a quick happy hour outing.  I was totally trying to camouflage my water weight so I decided to wear all black so that I could be comfortable and have a great time without worrying about what I look like underneath the loose fitting top.  No tugging required! Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do to hide your secrets.   Here's a peak at what I wore.

Dressy Dressed Down Day - Denim Shirt, Leggings, Accessories & Heels

Image
Happy Friday folks!! Today was a really low key day for me. Not a lot going on, worked from home, and as I always say,  "stay ready so you don't have to get ready!" So of course I still got up and got presentable, in case I had to make a sudden break out the door, but I was in my casual Friday type of mode.  Dressed just enough for an accidental run in or if I  had to make a quick stop to see a client.  Every one's version of dressed down is different, mine just happens to include jewelry and pointy toe heels at times.  Maybe I should rename it to "Dressy Dressed Down Days!" Hmm….has a nice little ring to it…LOL! Anyway, here's a peak at what I wore.

Short and Long Layers of Style

Happy Wednesday! Today was a very busy day of work and meeting and I am so exhausted,  but here is a quick post of today's attire.  Hope everyone had a great day! Thanks for reading!

Building on a Perfect Pencil Skirt

Image
Black doesn't have to be boring, building on a great foundation provides loads of options when it comes to wearing a great pencil skirt.  Every woman should have a few of these in their closet!  They are sexy, flattering and can be fitting for almost any occasion.  Today I pair my perfect pencil skirt with a maroon short sleeve blouse and a black white textured sweater, topped off with a great statement necklace and my oh so comfy (for a high heel) knee high boots. Here's a peak at my OOTD.

Simple Sophistication - Black Textured Leggings, Blazer & Heels

Image
Well first of all I am on a great high as my hometown team has taken the cake and won the 2014 Superbowl, so I must say, Job well done to the Seattle Seahawks! Now on to today's post…..  I rolled out of bed this morning, tired as all out doors, but I still had to put my best heel forward!  I decided to keep it simple, yet sophisticated, so that I could make it through this day and handle my business in style.  I paired some textured leggings and a blazer from one of my go to brands, BCBG, and a statement necklace topped off with one of my many colors of my favorite Boutique 9 Justine heels and was out the door.  I decided to go with the purple suede to just give the outfit a little twist.  Nothing major but just enough to make a neck or two do a double take.  Here's a peek at what I wore.

Sassy Saturday - Colored Denim & Faux Leather Shell

Image
Happy Saturday!  Even though it's the weekend I still like to get dressed to impress because you never know when a business opportunity can cross your path.  My motto is "Stay ready so you don't have to get ready."  So today I decided to pair my wine colored denim leggings with a pale mauve colored faux leather shell, topped with a off white blazer and my favorite patent dark natural pumps.  I love my patent pumps because they are the BrownSkinMaven's  version of nude, which makes them just right for me!  Here's a peek at what I wore.
